Greek to Me: Adventures of the Comma Queen

Mary Norris, the "Comma Queen" joins Marty to discuss her new book "Greek to Me."

Listen 49:50

Guest: Mary Norris

MARY NORRIS is widely known as the “Comma Queen.” The former New Yorker copy editor is famous for her advice on grammar, punctuation, and style in both the magazine and a series of online videos. She’s taken on the misuse of the words like “massive” or “impact,” or the proper use of who vs. whom, farther vs. further, that vs. which. But her new book isn’t about dissecting proper English – it’s about the Greeks. Greek to Me explores her love affair with all things Greek — the food, the art, the culture, the myths, and the language. Norris comes in to talk with Marty about her travels to Greece, about her effort to master the language, and about her fascination with words and grammar. [from the Radio Times archives]
