Woman, 56, killed near Temple University

Philadelphia police say they’re looking for a suspect after a 56-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head two blocks from the Temple University campus.

Police say the woman was shot around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 12th and Jefferson streets in the city’s Yorktown section.

She was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. It was the city’s 15th homicide of the year.

Temple sent out an alert to students and staff describing the woman as a “non-Temple-related individual.”
