Wolf hires top Kane deputy to be state’s inspector general
Gov. Tom Wolf is hiring a top deputy in the state attorney general’s office to be inspector general.
Wolf on Tuesday named Bruce Beemer, who has openly questioned his boss, Attorney General Kathleen Kane, during the past two tumultuous years there.
Wolf and Kane are both Democrats.
Beemer, a former Allegheny County prosecutor, joined the attorney general’s office in 2011 as chief of staff and was promoted after Kane took office in 2013 to first deputy attorney general.
Beemer testified in an investigation that resulted in perjury charges against Kane. Later, Beemer managed the office’s high-level legal affairs after the state Supreme Court suspended Kane’s law license.
Grayling Williams is resigning for a position in law enforcement after taking the job last year. The state inspector general’s office investigates complaints about fraud, waste and misconduct in state agencies.
