Two women report sexual assaults in Philly overnight

    The Philadelphia police released reports that two women were sexually assaulted in two separate incidents overnight.

    At around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, a 24-year-old female flagged down what she believed to be a taxi on the 2200 Block of Spring Garden street. According to police reports, when she got inside the vehicle, the woman said that there was a black male in the back seat who began sexually assaulting her. The male then forced her out of the vehicle at 10th and Catherine Streets where she called police. According to the report, $41.00 was taken from the woman. She described the men as two black males with dark complexions in their late teens or early twenties. An investigation is ongoing.

    The second incident reportedly occurred just after midnight. According to police, a 22-year-old female met a male at the Made in America event. When she asked to use his cell phone, the man told her that she could use his house phone because he lived nearby.

    Police report that the woman followed the man to his house on the 2000 block of Arch Street. When she went inside to use the phone he sexually assaulted her. The female was able to run out of the house after the assault and contact police. The male was then placed in custody. His name has not yet been released.
