Tree plantings intended to make an ‘example’ out of Chelten Avenue in Germantown

Thanks to a partnership between Tree Germantown, Tree Philly and Germantown United CDC, the 100 block of W. Chelten Ave. is now home to a half dozen new trees, with another nine expected soon.

Aine Doley of Tree Germanown said the site was chosen as “an ‘example’ block to show what a difference the trees will make in the appearance of the avenue, of how things can look with trees and some additional greenery.”

Planning and outreach became the planting of new trees on Friday.

Now, those involved will work to ensure the trees “survive through education with business owners, Germantown Special Services District cleaning staff, fundraising for tree pit-fencing” and more.
