Train service suspended between Long Branch, Bay Head early this afternoon

    New Jersey Transit train service is suspended between Long Branch and Bay Head early this afternoon.

    According to Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS on Facebook, a pedestrian was struck and killed on the North Jersey Coast Line tracks near Brighton Avenue in Long Branch shortly after noon.

    The incident occurred near the Elberon station, according to NJ Transit.

    Authorities are conducting an investigation this afternoon.

    There was no immediate word when service would resume. The transit agency says bus service is available between Bay Head and Long Branch.
