Tot who smelled of booze had alcohol in body, Wilkes-Barre police say

Police in Pennsylvania say a toddler taken to a hospital because she smelled of booze had alcohol in her system.

Police in Wilkes-Barre say the 2-year-old girl’s aunt and uncle noticed the smell of alcohol on her Monday after picking her up from her parents’ home. Authorities say they alerted Luzerne County Children and Youth Services and took her to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Police said Wednesday that tests showed the toddler had a measurable blood alcohol content. They did not disclose her condition or say if she sustained any injuries.

Police and child welfare authorities say they’re investigating the case.
