Here’s a look at what’s to come this week in Northwest Philadelphia. 

 

1. An ongoing debate regarding the proposed use of the shop space at 5134 Rochelle Ave. in the Wissahickon neighborhood has reached a provisional conclusion. We’ll have an update for you.

2. We told you all about plans to update and renovate Vernon Park in Germantown. The groundbreaking will take place this week. We’ll report back with photos and details from the event. 

3. Eighth District Councilwoman Cindy Bass kicked off her re-election campaign this weekend. Check back for a look at the event. 

4. Pennsylvania Ballet dancer, Sara Schaeffer, who will be performing as a swan in the upcoming performance of Christopher Wheeldon’s “Swan Lake” will visit Morris Arboretum’s Swan Pond for a photo shoot with their resident swans, Flora and Fauna this week. Check back for a look at what is sure to be a beautiful scene.

5. Northwest Philadelphia won big time as the first grantees for the city’s Performances in Public Spaces Program were announced by Mayor Nutter’s office this week. Six Northwest arts organizations are among the 23 selected recipients and three area parks are among the 19 host public spaces where performances will take place. Check back for more details.
