Teen accidentally shoots himself in foot while joyriding

Authorities say a teenager accidentally shot himself in the foot while he and his friends were joyriding in a relative’s cars in southern New Jersey.

Millville police learned of the shooting when they responded to an auto accident call on Monday night and found a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his left foot that they say was caused by a “self-inflicted accidental discharge,”

The boy told police that he and two other boys had taken a relative’s car without permission. The boy said the driver became distracted when the gun went off and ran a stop sign before crashing into another car.

Authorities say there were no injuries caused by the accident. The teen is in stable condition.
