Suspect charged in teen girl’s stabbing death

A suspect has been charged in the stabbing death of another teenager during a brawl in a drugstore parking lot in north Philadelphia last month.

Police said 18-year-old Keyarra Frisby was charged with murder and related offenses in the July 5 death of 17-year-old Anita Cotton, who died shortly after she was stabbed during an early morning melee July 5 in the Hunting Park neighborhood.

Police told the Philadelphia Daily News that two groups of girls got into a fight on South Street following the Fourth of July fireworks at Penn’s Landing. Officers broke up the fight, but it started up again as the teenagers got off the transit line at the Hunting Park station.

The defendant’s court-appointed attorney didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Saturday.
