Stuffed animal collection, anti-violence pledge at Domestic Violence Awareness rally

Love Park is the stage for an awful lot of rallies, but few of them feature a bus full of stuffed animals.

At the Women Against Abuse rally Wednesday afternoon, participants will be asked to donate new stuff animals for the “Verizon Journey of Hope” bus.

They’ll be given to children affected by domestic violence as part of a larger event to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

As Philadelphians take an anti-violence pledge, Deputy Police Commissioner Patricia Giorgio-Fox will be given the Pat Fox Trailblazer Award for her work against domestic violence, and Women Against Abuse will announce a new teen dating violence prevention program for Philadelphia middle and high school students.

The pledge, set for 4:30 p.m., will be the city’s fifth iPledge campaign against domestic violence.
