School honors handed out

And the winner is… State education leaders will announce the winners of the state’s 2012 Reward, Recognition and Distinguished Title I Schools and Schools of Continued Excellence Awards.  State Secretary of Education Mark Murphy will join Lt. Gov. Matt Denn in announcing the awards which were created by the General Assembly in 2009.  Previously known as the Academic Achievement Awards, the awards honor schools for significantly closing the achievement gap and/or exceeding adequate yearly progress on state tests for two or more years in a row.
