Scattered showers are forming over the central Pine Barrens and heading through a portion of the Jersey Shore early this afternoon.

At 12:10 p.m., the activity is moving northeast through portions of Ocean and Monmouth counties.

Some of the shower activity is heavy, according to the latest radar.

In a forecast discussion issued shortly before noon, the National Weather Service says that the precipitation “should dissipate during the early afternoon,” adding that most of the model guidance suggests showers and thunderstorms later focused in northern and central New Jersey.
