A 17-year-old Toms River boy was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after suffering a injury in the ocean Tuesday afternoon, according to a report on APP.com.

Around 2:30 p.m., the teenager was bodysurfing off the Second Avenue beach when he struck his chin on the sand, the report said.

The report said he complained of numbness in his extremities.

Lifeguards were not on duty Tuesday.

JSHN contributor Edie Klink reported a heavy presence of emergency personnel at the Seaside Park Marina, where a medevac landed to transport the teenager.
