New Castle County Police are urging people to take a few safety precautions at their homes.

The crime alert was issued after a trend of burglaries in several developments in North Wilmington.

Some of the targeted residential communities include Nordic Dell, South Graylyn Crest, Webster Farms, and Sherwood Green. The burglaries have all occurred during the daytime hours this week. According to investigators, the Harbor House apartment complex was also burglarized.

As detectives search for witnesses, they’re reminding homeowners to lock their doors and windows and consider installing a residential alarm system to deter burglars. The New Castle County Police are asking all residents to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity they observe. Another recommended tip is to Park Smart: locked vehicles and secure any valuables and take their car keys with them.
