Questions remain after Fort Lee traffic jam scandal report

Two investigative reports and millions of dollars later, the residents of Fort Lee, New Jersey, still don’t have a definitive answer for why their city was subjected to days of gridlock last year.

An interim report from the joint legislative committee released Thursday following months of investigation strongly suggests the traffic havoc was political retribution against Democratic Mayor Mark Sokolich for declining to endorse Republican Gov. Chris Christie’s re-election bid.

But the report leaves many questions about exactly what motivated the act and who knew about the scheme and when.

The report is also inconclusive about what and when Christie knew.
