Pennsylvania’s embattled attorney general says politics in the state is “a disease” that “needs to be cut out.”
Democrat Kathleen Kane spoke with WNEP-TV in Scranton after the state Senate narrowly rejected a resolution Wednesday that needed a two-thirds majority to order her removal from office.
Kane is facing charges that she illegally leaked grand jury information to a newspaper and then lied under oath about her actions. The state Supreme Court suspended her law license and the House of Representatives is exploring impeachment proceedings.
Some of Kane’s top deputies have publicly challenged her and her spokesman acknowledged that some agency employees were disappointed the Senate didn’t remove her.
Kane says she’s considering running for re-election and that efforts to remove her could be a reaction to her investigation of a government email scandal.
