Police probe deaths of man, woman found shot in SUV in Fairmount Park

Authorities have opened a homicide investigation into the deaths of a man and woman found shot in a sport utility vehicle in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.

Police said maintenance workers found the couple dead in the car Friday afternoon near Lemon Hill Mansion in East Fairmount Park.

Investigators said both had been shot multiple times in the head, and a gunshot that shattered the car’s back window appeared to have been fired from inside the vehicle.

Capt. Ray Convery of the 9th District said no gun was found at the scene. He said the car was registered to the woman and relatives of the man said he had been missing for a day.
