Police officer shoots, wounds driver during traffic stop in South Jersey

Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a driver who allegedly fled from a traffic stop and then struck a parked car.

Camden County prosecutors say the shooting occurred around 9:40 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Routes 130 and 168 in Haddon Township.

Authorities say the man struggled with the officer and was shot once in the “lower body.” The officer was not injured.

The man was treated at a hospital and later released. He was being held in custody and charges against him were pending.
