Police officer on leave amid probe of online comments

A York police officer is on leave while city officials determine if he posted inflammatory comments on a newspaper’s Facebook page.

The comments posted to The York Dispatch’s Facebook page appeared to come from an account with the officer’s name.

Mayor Kim Bracey has apologized on the city’s behalf to anyone offended by them. Some have found the comments racially charged.

They respond to news accounts of a brawl after a local high school basketball game and a vigil to remember the teen shot by police in Ferguson, Missouri.

Bracey calls the allegations serious and says the veteran officer will remain on leave until the investigation concludes.
