Police: Juvenile facing charges in gunshot in high school

Police say a juvenile is facing charges in connection with a gunshot during a fight at a Philadelphia high school.

Officers said no one was injured by the weapon’s discharge shortly before noon Friday in a stairwell at Benjamin Franklin High School.

Investigators found a .45 caliber cartridge casing and one projectile. Witnesses told detectives that several students were involved in a physical altercation in a fourth-floor hallway, and the shot was fired shortly afterward.

Police said a search warrant was obtained for a juvenile male’s residence, and he was arrested. Officials said the youth was arrested early Saturday and will be charged.
