Philadelphia loves the Jersey Shore, this Tuesday

Got $5? I have something for you to do on Tuesday night.

On Dec. 4, I’m hosting a benefit called “Philadelphia Loves the Jersey Shore” at the Pen & Pencil in Philadelphia. For $5, hear 10 local writers – including Dan McQuade, Amy Z. Quinn, Amy S. Rosenberg, Robert Strauss and yours truly – read their best work about all the weird and wonderful of the Jersey Shore.

We’re only asking for $5, but suggesting $10 or more. The money will go directly to Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. We’re also taking non-perishable food items for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, which is feeding those still in shelters.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and readings will start at 7:30 p.m.

The news coming out of parts of the Jersey Shore has been so terrible, and the weather has been so gloomy. We hope that this event will provide a spot of summer light, and help our shore friends who have lost everything.
