Park closures on chopping block in Montgomery County, residents urged to protest

Five popular areas of trails in Montgomery County are on the chopping block and activists are urging county residents to attend a Wednesday morning public hearing to speak out.

The Pottstown Mercury reports activists against the potential park closures have taken their message online, urging residents to protest the potential cuts to the county’s 2012 budget.

According to the report, Pottsgrove Manor, Mill Grove in Audobon, the Schuylkill River and the Perkiomen trails and the canal in Mont Clare are all on the chopping block, due to cuts in the county’s budget.

The Pottstown Mercury says the Wednesday morning meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Montgomery County Cour House in Norristown.
