Pa. police officer hit by car at accident scene

A suburban Philadelphia police officer is hospitalized after a passing vehicle spun on ice and struck him as he placed road flares at an accident scene.

Cheltenham Township police say the officer was struck around 6:30 a.m. Thursday on Washington Lane in the township’s Wyncote section.

Police say the officer sustained multiple internal injuries. He is listed in stable condition at Abington Memorial Hospital’s trauma center.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck the officer remained at the scene and is cooperating.
