NY Attorney General sues federal government over natural gas drilling regulations

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is taking on the man.

Schneiderman is suing the federal government because he wants a full environmental review of the proposed regulations for natural gas drilling in the Delware River Basin.

Schneiderman says the Delaware River Basin Commission proposed these regulations without conducting a full review, which is required by law. He also says that the people who live in the basin as well as those who get their drinking water from the basin need to be the first and foremost concern.

The lawsuit stems from natural gas drilling in the Northeast. The process involved drilling down and then horizontally into the earth and shooting huge volumes of water mixed with small amounts of chemicals into the earth to release the natural gas.
