Newtown drafts discrimination ordinance expansion

Based on the anti-discrimination ordinance adopted recently by Doylestown, Newtown Borough has drafted an ordinance to expand its own policy to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

Many municipalities have taken this route, and the Bucks County borough has decided to also set up a Human Relations Commission to mediate relevant circumstances, according to Newtown Patch.

Borough Council will review the ordinance at its regular meeting next week, where some members may call for more detail. The ordinance will be up for public review before it can be adopted.
