Mumia Abu-Jamal to speak with journalist David Shuster during live prison interview today

Political activist and convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal has agreed to a rare phone interview. He will speak live from prison about his struggle for freedom and justice during an interview to be broadcast nationwide today.

EmmyAward-winning broadcast journalist, David Shuster will speak with Abu-Jamal about his past and future during Shuster’s nationally syndicated radio and YouTube show Take Action News with Dave Shuster beginning at 1:30 p.m. (Listen live below).

Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of killing Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981 on the corner of 13th and Locusts streets. He had been on Pennsylvania’s death row for thirty years. After decades of appeals, Abu-Jamal’s death sentence was lifted in December when Philadelphia prosecutors agreed to a life term rather than participate in a new sentencing hearing ordered by a federal appeals court.

Abu-Jamal is currently serving out his life term in the general prison population at SCI Mahanoy, in Frackville, Schuylkill County.
