More charges for Pa. man jailed in veteran slaying
Authorities say a man charged in the stabbing death of a homeless veteran outside a suburban Philadelphia train station recently tried to kill a fellow Bucks County prison inmate.
Court documents filed Tuesday say 21-year-old Dale Wakefield of Doylestown stabbed the prisoner in the face and arms with a ball-point pen. He has been charged with attempted murder in the Feb. 24 incident.
Wakefield is behind bars without bail on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the July 3 slaying of 71-year-old George Mohr outside the Doylestown train station.
Prosecutors allege Wakefield stabbed the Army veteran more than 70 times with a pocket knife, causing injuries so severe that rescuers thought Mohr was struck by a train.
It was Doylestown’s first murder in more than 40 years.
