Medical examiner: Missing Philly girl’s body found in Delaware River

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s office has confirmed that the body of a teen girl found in the Delaware River this week was that of a missing high school freshman.

Coroner’s spokesman Jeff Moran said the cause of death was drowning by suicide.

The girl’s body was discovered off a boat ramp in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Relatives of the missing 14-year-old girl had been searching the area in recent days after she left for school over a week ago but never arrived.
