Mayor Nutter departs Thursday for an international mission to China
We Philadelphians know the many faces of Mayor Michael Nutter – like fun Nutter who jumps into pools and tough-talkin’ Nutter who expects more from the city’s youth. Now, we as a city must learn a new facet of our mayor: international Nutter, a jet-setting diplomat!
As president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Nutter’s been given the opportunity to travel the world. And on his latest journey, Philadelphia’s mayor will lead a mission to China in an effort to raise the city’s international profile and promote business opportunities.
According to the Associated Press, Nutter will be joined by representatives from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the city’s airport, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Drexel University and other local groups on the week-long trip to China.
Nutter is set to depart on Thursday for the city of Tianjin, which is a 35-minute high-speed train ride from Beijing.
