Married gay couples in Philadelphia still in limbo with respect to benefits
Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision striking down a key provision of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act is widely hailed by advocates and supporters as a key step toward the legalization of same sex marriage across the country. But that step has yet to bear fruit for Philadelphia residents Rick Koonce and his spouse, John Galligan.
