Authorities say a New Jersey man who set himself on fire outside a Veterans Affairs clinic has died.

Officials told The Press of Atlantic City on Tuesday that the 51-year-old Egg Harbor Township man had died. But they declined to provide further details.

Authorities have said the man used gasoline to set himself on fire at the Northfield clinic on Saturday afternoon. He was flown to a hospital in Philadelphia, where he had been listed in critical condition.

It’s not clear what caused the man to set himself on fire. Authorities say the incident remains under investigation.
