Man arrested for impersonating police officer in Delaware

New Castle County police say they have arrested a man who impersonated a police officer.

 

Police say officers were patrolling an area near Pulaski Highway and Bear Christiana in Bear at about 9 p.m. on Friday when they pulled over 34-year-old Abdula Ward for driving on a suspended license.

Police say after stopping Abdula the officers noticed he was wearing a shirt that said POLICE on it, and had in his car handcuffs, a police radio and other law enforcement equipment. Police also said Abdula had a blank gun with ammunition.

Police say Abdula has been charged with impersonating a police officer and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Police say Abdula has not been linked to any specific police impersonation incidents.

He is being held on $15,000 bail.
