Local races are the draw in Tuesday’s Pa. election

Tuesday’s election ballot lists only one race for all Pennsylvania voters to decide — the contest for an open seat on the state Superior Court.
A low voter turnout is anticipated, perhaps only 20 percent of the state’s 8.2 million voters, but an abundance of local contests may spur voter interest some areas.
Philadelphia voters will decide whether to re-elect the city’s district attorney and controller. Voters in communities that include Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Scranton, Lancaster, York and State College will be electing mayors. Hundreds of municipal offices, school board seats and local judgeships also will be up for grabs.
For the third consecutive Pennsylvania election, local officials will be allowed to ask voters to show photo identification but cannot require an ID in order to cast a ballot.
