How to pick the best tablet for you

‘Tis the season when many people will consider joining the tablet generation, or upgrading what they already have. But if you already have a laptop or a smartphone, what’s the incentive to buy? Kevin Tofel, senior writer for the mobile channel at tech site gigaom.com, says it depends on what you want to do with your mobile device.

“There are certain things smartphones are great at, because they’re highly portable. But you can’t really create content on those, so a tablet would fit into that mode where you could create content, email and Facebook a lot easier. Tablets are very much like computers, they’re just more portable, the batteries last longer, and they’re often less expensive,” he notes.
