Hearing set for Secret Service officer in sexting case

A court hearing is set for a Secret Service officer accused of trying to solicit sex from an undercover agent he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Lee Robert Moore is scheduled to appear Wednesday in federal court in Delaware for a hearing on prosecutors’ request that he remain in custody pending trial.

Moore’s attorney is asking that he be released to the custody of his wife and parents at his Maryland home.

The hearing was previously postponed because of a chickenpox outbreak at the Philadelphia federal detention center where Moore is currently being held.

Prosecutors say Moore sometimes engaged in online sex chats while on duty at the White House.

He faces a federal charge of trying to transfer obscene material to a minor, and related charges in state court.
