Gone for a bit, following the money

I’d like to think Pennsylvania can make it through the rest of the summer without another prominent elected official getting indicted, but I wouldn’t bet my house on it.

We’ve seen a Congressman and the state attorney general charged in the last two weeks. If anybody else has to turn him or herself in, I’ll miss it.

I’ll be away until August 24th, partly for a family vacation, and partly to learn better how to track money and politics.

I’ll spend a few days in Missoula, Montana with the good folks at the National Institute on Money in State Politics, which runs a really great website called Follow The Money.

I’ll be among a class of 20 journalists from around the country sharpening our skills in campaign finance research.  Looking for good stories and big horn sheep? Doesn’t get any better.

After that I’ll join my kids in the Midwest for some baseball and other amusements,  starting with a Phillies-Milwaukee Brewers game followed by a throw-in Goo Goo Dolls concert at the stadium.

Enjoy  your August  – I’ll be back.
