Germantown store clerk shot in face in front of woman and child

A masked man shot a store clerk in the face during a would-be robbery in the East Germantown section of the city Wednesday night.

The shooting at the Prieta Grocery on the 1200 block of E Stafford Street happened in front of a woman and her small child who were inside the store shopping, said Philadelphia Police.

The gunman, his face covered entered the store around 8:30 p.m. and approached the employee behind the deli counter and demanded money, said investigators.

He then opened fire, striking the victim in the right eye and the left thigh before fleeing the scene.
