Fire destroys Wilmington church [photos]

The second fire this month at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington destroyed the Wilmington church.

Officials say a fire that broke out at a Wilmington church has caused the building to collapse. The fire was reported around 7 p.m. Wednesday at the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church on Vandever Ave.

Firefighters said the church has been completely destroyed, and that two nearby homes have been damaged.

At least one firefighter was reported injured, but details were not immediately available. Firefighters were called to the same church earlier this month for a fire in the basement.
