Family to visit site of Rutgers student’s suicide

The family of the Rutgers University student who killed himself after his roommate used a webcam to see him kissing a man plan to visit the scene of his suicide.

Tyler Clementi’s parents and brother are planning to travel to the bridge Sunday to help raise awareness about the dangers of bullying.

They’re scheduled to meet with two members of a group called The Friend Movement who are walking from Chicago to the George Washington Bridge in Tyler’s memory.

The 18-year-old killed Clementi himself in 2010, soon after starting college. His death sparked a national conversation about the treatment of young gays.

His roommate served less than a month in jail after he was convicted of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and other counts. He’s appealing his conviction.
