Ex-principal sues charter operator for age discrimination
A former top administrator and principal says in a lawsuit that the charter operator she worked for discriminated against her and wrongfully terminated her because of her age.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Gail Avicolli filed the lawsuit against String Theory Schools.
She alleges that after the School Reform Commission renewed the operating agreement for the Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School in January 2014, founder Angela Corosanite and her son worked to remove the woman who was “the face” of the String Theory charters.
Avicolli, then 67, says Corosanite repeatedly shouted at her about the cost of her health insurance because of her age. The lawsuit says she was terminated after she was cleared to come back from medical leave.
Corosanite and the charter organizations’ attorney couldn’t be reached.
