Escaped Louisiana inmate captured in South Jersey

Authorities in New Jersey have captured an inmate who fled a work-release program in Louisiana.

Officials found 38-year-old Michael Massaro in a home in Monroe Township. He grew up in the area and still has family in Gloucester County.

On Nov. 2, Massaro escaped from Terrebonne Parish Work Release. He was sentenced to nine years confinement for burglary and theft in 2012.

Massaro is held without bail pending an extradition hearing to determine whether he will voluntarily return to Louisiana.
