Delaware police warn of burglary trend in Wilmington

After more than a dozen burglaries over the last month and a half, Wilmington Police are urging residents in two west side neighborhoods to be vigilant.

Police say there have been eight burglaries in the Wawaset Park area since mid-October and another five robberies in the Union Park Gardens area since mid-November.  Most of the burglaries happened during daytime hours when no one was home.

The items stolen varied from house to house, but consisted mainly of small items, like electronics and cash.  Most homes were broken into when the suspects forced open a rear door or window.

In response, Wilmington Police have increased patrols in both areas and created special details to investigate each incident and try to prevent any future burglaries.  They’re asking residents to keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior in the neighborhood and report it immediately to police.
