A Clayton man has been charged in the stabbing deaths of his estranged wife and her mother outside a home near Smyrna.

Master Cpl. Gary E. Fournier says authorities arrested 66-year-old Gilbert E. Rochester on two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

Fournier says authorities found 56-year-old Mary C. Lane dead in the driveway Sunday morning. Detectives say Rochester attacked his wife as she exited the home.

Officials also found 80-year-old Louise M. Cavuto Carrow in a detached garage.

Authorities found Rochester hiding in the property wielding a knife. They used a stun gun to incapacitate him and ultimately take him into custody.

It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
