Couple pleads guilty in fatal neglect of woman, 70

A couple from northeastern Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder for fatally neglecting a 70-year-old stroke victim in their care.

The Pocono Record reports 45-year-old John Tedesco and 38-year-old Tina Tedesco entered the pleas Friday in Monroe County Court.

Authorities say the Ross Township couple is responsible for the August 2011 death of Barbara Rabins. Police allege Rabins was left in her own urine and feces and lost more than 100 pounds in a year while the Tedescos looked after her.

According to police, John Tedesco said the couple didn’t place Rabins in an assisted living facility because they would no longer get money from Rabins’ trust fund if they did.
