Christie to MVC customers: Take the shortcuts to services
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is taking aim at cutting wait times at Motor Vehicle Commission centers.
Christie says the changes announced earlier this month will help make drivers’ experiences with New Jersey’s 39 MVC offices easier. A commission spokeswoman said the average wait time in June was 60 minutes.
The ideas include changing the expiration date of driver’s licenses and eliminating online transaction fees.
The proposals come after months of reports on computer system failures, customer service complaints and long lines snaking outside the state-run offices.
Some of the measures will go into effect in the coming weeks, while others will require the Legislature to act.
