Elderly woman found dead outside Chestnut Hill home

A 70-year-old woman was found dead outside of a Chestnut Hill property Thursday morning, according to police.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the deceased was discovered laying face down at the side of a house on the unit block of West Bells Mill Road,  said Officer Tanya Little, a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Police Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later.

” There were no visible signs of trauma” or foulplay, said Little, who noted that the case has been deemed ” suspicious.”

Blood was found at the scene. Its source is part of an open investigation.
