Cape May to raise price of some beach tags

Cape May has approved higher prices for some beach tags to offset costs.

The three-day tag will cost $12 instead of $10. Pre-season seasonal tags will cost $20, up from $15. The cost of the weekly tag will increase from $15 to $18 beginning in 2015.

Cape May increased the prices of daily and seasonal prices last year.

City officials tell The Press of Atlantic City they need the higher fees to offset the cost of sand-replenishment projects, a state-mandated increase in the minimum wage for badge checkers, constructing new restrooms and paying off debt.
