Beach buggies are on their way to Seaside Park, N.J.

Seaside Park’s planning board unanimously approved an application Tuesday to offer the buggy rides on the beach. The application was made by Funtown Pier owner William Major.

The Asbury Park Press reports the rides will feature drivers who will shuffle passengers along a beach course. But there won’t be racing. The drivers can’t exceed 20 mph.

The buggy rides are the latest way the area is trying to draw visitors to a beachfront where businesses have struggled after Superstorm Sandy and a brutal boardwalk fire. Many rides were damaged in Sandy and the rest were destroyed by the 2013 fire.
