A body found in a South Jersey inlet is that of a Pennsylvania boy who went missing while swimming last week, authorities said.

They have not yet released the youth’s name, identifying him only as a 16-year-old Lansdale resident.

North Wildwood police say the body was recovered early Saturday night after a passer-by saw it floating in the Hereford Inlet.

The teen had been reported missing after he was seen struggling in the swift current on June 30. Two North Wildwood police officers suffered minor cuts and bruises when they dove off a rock seawall in an unsuccessful bid to save the boy.
